Match Report
|
| |
Worsborough battted first and made steady
progress through T. Peace (25) and R. Peace
(17). Sam French bowled well (3 Overs 1-7)
before Jacob Brooke-Ashton (2-7) removed
the middle order. Worsborough finished on
a total of 87-5 from their 20 overs..
In reply, Stainborough got off to a good
start with Sam Askey (25) and Matt Grimshaw
(14) putting on 45 for the first wicket.
Ben Armitage (13) also made good runs and
in a position of needing just 19 runs from
the last 7 overs, the result looked beyond
doubt. However, fading light was to change
the situation.
New batsmen found it difficult to see and
the runs dried up. Two runouts did not help
the cause and Stainborough still required
5 runs for victory off the last over, in
near darkness. When Josh Rennison was runout
off the last ball of the match, the Stainborough
total was still 2 runs short of the target.
