Match Report
|
| |
Penistone batted first and found runs hard
to come by with Jake Malkin bowling 4 overs
for just 7 runs in an excellent spell. Both
L. Gill and T. Cadzow rode their luck as
both players were dropped twice before reaching
double figures. They made Stainborough pay
for their errors and both batsmen went on
to retire on 33 and 32 respectively. Penistone
did not appear to have strength in depth
and the new batsmen struggled with both
Peter Kaskiewicz and Elliott Mann taking
two wickets each. However, a total of 99-4
was a testing target.
Stainborough got off to a flying start with
Jake Malkin dispatching the ball to all
parts of the ground before his enforced
retirement on 33. Ben Armitage and Ryan
Johnson took up the challenge and accumulated
the runs with some excellently judged singles.
The Penistone fielders were under pressure
and it was no surprise when a quickly taken
leg-bye took Stainborough to their target
with just 5 balls to spare.
Man of the Match (selected by opposing
Managers);
Stainborough : Jake Malkin
Penistone : Thomas Cadzow
