Match Report
|
| |
Stainborough were knocked out of the cup
by an impressive Kilnhurst side.
Having been put into bat, Stainborough found
runs hard to come by but were importantly
not losing wickets which allowed the scoreboard
to keep ticking over. However, this was
to change when no less than 5 dismissals
came in the middle of the innings with C.
Wilkinson taking 3 wickets for just 2 runs.
Only an impressive final partnership of
23 between Matthew Grimshaw (12 n.o.) and
Sam French (6 n.o.) got the score back into
the positive with final target of 218 being
set.
In response, Kilnhurst played positively
with J. Hobson hitting an excellent 16.
All the batsmen looked comfortable and runs
were coming at a steady rate. Having to
defend a modest score, it was always going
to be difficult and this was not helped
when no less than 4 relatively easy catches
went to ground. Never the less, Stainborough
never gave up hope and wickets by John Stones,
Alex Bamford and Elliot Mann and an excellent
spell by Peter Kaskiewicz kept the Kilnhurst
batsmen on their toes.
Having surpassed their target Kinhurst simply
defended their wickets in the final over
and ran out winners by 19 runs.
