Match Report

Stainborough were put into bat and despite losing a couple of early wickets still made good progress. William Denton (6 n.o.) and John Stones (7 n.o.) added 19 runs for the tird partnership before Curtis Parker (14 n.o.) and Matthew Grimshaw (6 n.o.) added a further 25 to take the final score to 252.

In reply, Worsborough made a flying start with A. Bentley smashing 23 not out. The following batsmen could not maintain the same rate of scoring against some accurate bowling and with the final pairing still needing 12 to win, a close finish was anticipated. However, John Stones took the game from Worsborough with an excellent hat-trick. The first two wickets clean bowled, with the hat-trick being a caught and bowled. When Tom Allen almost completed the same feat in the following over, with two wickets in two balls, the match was all but over. The vistors final score was 215.
