Match Report

For the third successive match the result could have gone either way with just one bowl to be delivered.

Batting first Stainborough made good progress with Josh Abson hitting 10 not out. However, the fall of four quick wickets saw the total drastically reduced. It was left to Tom Allen and Jacob Brooke-Ashton to put on 15 runs for the the fourth partneship before Matthew Grimshaw (12) and Curtis Parker (6) brought the final score to 231. Ben Wood 2-2 and Matthew Foster 2-11, bowled well for Darton.

In reply Darton could not have got off to a worse start, when Ryan Johnson took a wicket with the first delivery of the innings, before the in-form Elliot Mann took 2-4 in his 3 overs. After a poor start the Darton side began to score at a steady rate with Matthew Foster hitting an impressive 16 not out.

With just one over remaining Darton had already reached their target, and had only to ensure that they kept their wicket intact to secure the victory. Up stepped Matthew Grimshaw and with his second bowl of the over, bowled the Darton batsman. This put Stainborough back in front, and with only three runs coming from the rest of the over, ensured that Stainborough won by a narrow two run margin.

Both teams should again be congratulated on producing a very exciting finish to a well contested game of cricket.
