Match Report
|
| |
Stainborough managed a narrow 3 run victory
away to Rockingham.
Stainborough were invited to bat and got
off to an excellent start with John Stones
and Josh Rennison contributing 18 runs for
the first partnership. The loss of 3 wickets
in the next couple of partnerships restricted
the net total to 234 with only one pair
to bat. However, Matthew Grimshaw and Curtis
Parker batted sensibly and put on 17 runs
to take the final score to 251.
In reply, good bowling from the Stainborough
attack kept the run rate low, but the lack
of early wickets kept Rockingham in the
game. Curtis Parker then produced a fine
2 over spell taking 2 wickets for just one
run. At this point Stainborough seemed to
be cruising to victory.
Rockingham's final pair of Ashley Warmsley
and Danny Booth came to the wicket still
trailing by 24 runs. However, they scored
freely and it all came down to them needing
a boundary to win from the very last delivery
of the match. Bowler Elliot Mann kept his
nerve and ensured that Stainborough held
out for the win.
