Match Report
|
| |
Stainborough were put in to bat and got off
to a disasterous start losing no less than
6 wickets within the first 4 overs. With the
net score on 170 it was always going to be
an uphill struggle to post any sort of target.
However, John Stones and William Denton added
11, Ryan Johnson and Jacob Brooke-Ashton 5,
with Matthew Grimshaw and Sam French 10 runs
to make the final score 196. J. Gibbons 3-7,
and C. Hoyle 2-5, causing the damage for Penistone.
In reply Penistone made steady progress and
more importantly Stainborough were not taking
the wickets that they needed to win the game.
There was a glimmer of hope when Matthew Grimshaw
took 3-9 in his 3 over spell, but several
boundaries by B. Armitage (14) kept Penistone
in charge. Sam French 1-10, and John Stones
1-12 took further wickets for the hosts, but
Penistone ran out comfortable winners.
