Match Report
|
| |
After an excellent run of form, Stainborough
B were brought back down to earth with a
disappointing defeat at the hands of Knottingley.
Knottingley won the toss and elected to
bat. Scott (22) and Swales (38) got them
off to a steady start and although the run
rate was under control, no real pressure
was being applied by the Stainborough bowlers.
Dave Kershaw 1-24 off 12 overs bowled well,
but Stainborough appeared to be going through
the motions with several fielding errors
compounding a lacklustre performance. Lund
(61) took full advantage to set a total
of 183-5.
In response, Stainborough struggled against
accurate bowling and at the mid point of
the innings were only 45-3. With the run
rate ever increasing, risks were taken resulting
in the inevitable fall of wickets. Jonathan
Pepper (47) and John Hall (37) gave Stainborough
hope, but when the final wicket fell in
the penultimate over of the innings, they
were still 24 runs short of the target.
Ghaffer 5-37 and Lund 1-21 off 12 overs
were the key bowlers restricting Stainborough
to 159 all out.
