Match Report
|
| |
Stainborough suffered their first
defeat of the season away to Featherstone.
Having been put in to bat, Stainborough
despite losing an early wicket recovered
to 45-1 with J. Pepper (33) maintaining
his good form. However, for the second week
running a middle order collapse saw Stainborough
slump to 83-6. Then a 100 run partnership
off the final 15 overs of the innings between
K. Grimshaw (35) and R. Grange 62 not out,
enabled Stainborough to pick up maximum
batting points and set a final total of
189-7.
Featherstone began their reply in positive
fashion by scoring at over 5 runs per over
with Stainborough struggling to apply any
pressure. J. Robinson (30) and E. Larrington
piled on the runs. D. Kershaw (2-38) and
J. Pepper (1-7) gave Stainborough a glimmer
of hope, but the use of eight different
bowlers could not prevent Larrington reaching
his century. He made his unbeaten 101 by
hitting the winning runs with still 4 overs
to spare. M. Robinson also made 32 n.o.
in Featherstone's total of 192-3.
