Match Report
|
| |
On the first real summer's day of
the season, Stainborough won the toss and
elected to bat.
Opener's J. Pepper (33) and C. Hall (58)
made good early progress and with P. Brown
(45) also making good runs, Stainborough
were set for a formidable total having reached
132-3 at the innings mid-point. However,
Hundhill Hall hit back with some tight bowling
and it was left to K. Grimshaw (15 n.o.)
and G. McInerny (15 n.o.) to take the final
score to a rather disappointing 209-7. N.
Clapham (2-29) was the pick of the bowlers.
Grimshaw (2-21) removed the Hundhill openers,
before J. Kemp (40) and T. Watson (37) survived
a couple of chances to keep the game alive.
Once they had departed Hundhill were never
going to reach their target and it was just
a matter of picking up the bonus points.
G. McInerny (3-39) and D. Exley (1-21) kept
Stainborough in the hunt for maximum points,
but it was Chris Hall who mopped up the
tail taking (4-8) in just 2 overs. Dave
Kershaw bowled an excellent but luckless
spell of 12 overs for just 33 runs, 12 of
which came from his final over.
