Match Report
|
| |
Stainborough were
asked to bat on a very wet wicket. Despite
losing two early wickets J. Pepper (38),
J. Hall (19) and D. Exley (13) put Stainborough
in a strong position at 70-3 with 16 overs
left. However, Khan (5-39) ensured that
the Stainborough total fell short of expectations.
Ged McInerny (14 n.o.) took the total to
119 before the final wicket fell with just
two deliveries left in the innings.
Sandal made a disasterous start in their
run chase losing their first three wickets
with just 5 runs on the board. L. Padget
(20), S. Khan (14) and D. Dransfield (25)
gave the visitors hope but at 84-8 Stainborough
were in the driving seat. However, Martindale
(29) had other thoughts by hitting two sixes
and a four in short time to put Sandal back
in the game. With the field spread, Martindale
looked to win the game in a single blow
but only managed to hit the ball straight
up in the air. Dave Kershaw had time to
run around and take his fourth catch of
the iinings to complete the victory. Kershaw
finished with 3-17 off 11.1 overs with J.
Pepper claiming 2-9.
