Match Report
|
| |
Stainborough went in to the game knowing
that every point gained would be crucial
in their fight for survival. Hemsworth currently
in 2nd place on the other hand were looking
for the points to secure promotion.
Hemsworth took first knock and were fortunate
to get away with some loose shots early
in their innings. However, at 95-0 after
20 overs they appeared to have the upperhand.
The introdution of Ged McInerny saw the
end to both openers K. Locke (42) and D.
Walstow (38) and an Hemsworth collapse to
131-5. A good innings from L. Hindmarch
(37) and L. Simpson (21) made a recovery
to give Hemsworth a competitive total of
194 all out. Ged McInerny recorded career
best figures of 8-55.
Stainborough made a solid start in their
response with Jonathan Pepper (38) and Richard
Grange (23) laying the foundations for the
run chase. Runs were coming at the required
rate thanks to a superb innings by John
Hall (63 n.o.). Dave Exley (17) and Tom
Markham (18 n.o.) made useful contributions
to ensure that the target was reached with
still 3 overs to spare.
