Match Report
|
| |
Thorpe Audlin elected to bat and got off
to a good start with runs coming quickly,
albeit many through the slip region. At
91-2 off the first 20 overs a big score
was on the cards, however excellent bowling
from Chris Hall 4-45 and Ged McInerny 3-32,
restricted the visitors to an average total
of 174 all out. A. Vickers (59) top scored
for Thorpe Audlin.
With 50 Overs to reach the target Stainborough
were hopeful of collecting the 10 much needed
points in attempt to avoid relegation. Despite
losing an early wicket Stainborough made
steady progress and at 42-1 looked on track
to reach their target. However, the loss
of Jonathan Pepper (21) and Chris Hall (18)
left the score at 64-4. A superb partnership
of 79 between Richard Mills (35) and Ged
McInerney (42) got Stainborough close but
were still left requiring 23 runs off the
last 3 overs and with new batsmen at the
crease. Despite a valiant effort, time ran
out with still 7 runs needed for victory.
D. Clubley was the pick of the bowling taking
4-44.
