Match Report
|
| |
Stainborough again won the toss and elected
to bat on a good wicket. As in previous
weeks they got off to a good start reaching
the desired target of 61-2 at the mid point
of the innings. However, the next 10 overs
saw just 14 runs added to the total at a
cost of 2 wickets and the pressure began
to build on the incoming batsmen. With the
innings floundering on 90-4, Chris Hall
(20) and John Hall (16) provided the much
needed acceleration but when they both fell
in the 37th over, it was left to Dave Exley
(22) to steer the side to a second bonus
point. The final wicket fell in the penultimate
over with the score on 141.
On a good batting track, Stainborough needed
early wickets if they were going to defend
their total. In the first 10 overs they
were very unlucky when the Streethouse openers
played and missed several times and were
struggling to find the runs. However, having
survived the early pressure, the boundaries
began to flow with some careless fielding
adding to Stainborough's downfall. Streethouse
reached their target with 20 overs to spare
and for the loss of just two wickets.
