Match Report

Stainborough won the toss and elected to bat. An agressive start saw 22 runs come from the first 4 overs before Dave Kershaw (14) was dismissed. Runs continued to be scored at a good rate with G. McInerny (11) and R. Umbers (15) providing excellent support for opener J. Pepper. At 95 - 3 after 23 overs a big total was on the cards.

Jonathan Pepper completed his half century before being stumped on 54. This brought Chris Hall to the crease who went onto smash 3 sixes and 6 fours in his unbeaten 57. He was well supported by John Hall (10 n.o.). The partnership added 40 runs in the last 4 overs to take the final score to 198-8. The pick of the Bentley bowlers were C. Brown (3-43) off 12 overs and M. Adams (2-28) off 11 overs.

In reply, Bentley got off to a poor start losing opener Butterworth in the first over. John Hall bowled with pace and had Cox (17) caught behind. Dave Kershaw then took a wicket in his first over to leave Bentley 43-3. Housley and Ashworth made good progress and kept the game in the balance. Ged McInerny finally made the break through dismissing Ashworth (44). Bentley continued to look for the runs but when Adams (25) and then Housley (50) were dismissed the Bentley challenge was all but over.

Chris Hall put Stainborough firmly in control taking 3-13 off 5 overs with Ged McInerny 3-36 from 12 overs. Bentley survived the last 4 overs to finish on 170-9 and therefore deny Stainborough the final bowling point.

Most Valuble Player

Chris Hall was named MVP for an unbeaten 57 followed up by an excellent bowling spell of 3-13.
