Match Report
|
| |
Stainborough A suffered a dramatic defeat
at Whitley Bridge.
In scorching conditions, Stainborough batted
first with Pepper (54) and Gilfillan (67)
putting on 125 without loss, but a series
of wickets slowed the scoring rate, but
Archer (50 not out) helped Stainborough
to a healthy 229 for 5 including no less
than 4 LBW decisions.
Whitley lost Smith in the 1st over, but
recovered to reach 93 before losing their
2nd wicket. Wickets were hard to come by
but Whitley were falling behind the scoring
rate against tight bowling by Archer and
Exley, and when Simpson arrived they needed
85 off 8 overs. While on 1 he was dropped
before taking on the bowlers and hitting
a rapid 64 to achieve an unlikely win by
6 wickets.
